Numbers in Nature

Image
Badge Overview Daisy Numbers in Nature Daisies explore how to measure the size and number of objects in nature. They create their own unit of measure for nature, too! Badge Steps 1. Search for shadows 2. Sort natural objects 3. Make your own unit of measure Purpose When Daisies earn this badge, they'll know about shadows, measurement, sorting, and estimating. STEP 1: CREATE A SHADOW Trace, observe and compare shadows with this activity https://www.rookieparenting.com/shadow-drawing/ STEP 2: SORT NATURAL OBJECTS Take a walk outside. Have your girl collect a few objects from nature. Leaves, Rocks, Sticks. Compare their shapes and sizes. Then s ort them into like groups and make observations about how they compare and differ. STEP 3: MAKE YOUR OWN UNIT OF MEASURE Explain the difference between a standard unit of measure, like an inch or centimeter, and non-standard units of measure, like those Daisies will create during the activity.

TROOP BADGE PROGRESS

Image
Here is a compiled list of all of the badges and petals we have earned. Each link will have the guidelines for completing them.  If a task seems difficult to complete at home you are welcome to substitute it out with a craft or activity that fits your life better. There are always plenty of ideas on Pinterest. But the main requirement is that you help your girl grasp each concept with a discussion and some kind of activity.  When you've completed one with your girl let me know and I'll make sure she gets her badge at the next meeting! As Always let me know if you have any questions!
